Our latest blog post revealed that the Waverly Community House has received a grant from the Lackawanna Heritage Valley for the development of our latest Comm Classroom initiative: Destination Freedom; in addition to this, the Comm is happy to announce that we will be hosting a book talk and signing with author, and former Waverly resident Jim Remsen. The event will celebrate theĀ publication of Mr. Remsen’s book titled Embattled Freedom: Chronicle of a Fugitive-Slave Haven in the Wary North, a book which heavily focuses on Waverly’s role in the Underground Railroad.
This event will take place at the Waverly Community House on Sunday, March 5th at 1:00pm and will be free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
